Not a Bunch of Dudes Named Dan
About this project
Through a cultural lens...Inner city youth, for the most part, grow up with restricted physical movement and expression. Let’s consider for a moment the circumstances: the urban landscape isn’t conducive to play, lacking open space; at home many families are crammed into small apartments; subways and buses get easily crowded; given the pervasive violence in urban areas, there is a constant squelching of physical expression for fear it will become violent. All this creates a formula for an overwhelming stricture. Dancing, then, becomes an important means of overturning all this.
Here's the story...Jo-Jo is sixteen and living in East New York. On a typical weekend morning Jo-Jo is given an errand to run for his mother. During his trip, Jo-Jo finds a way to escape the confines of his physical reality through his imagination. There, he finds his expression and freedom, room to break dance. But his dream is infiltrated by a challenging female.
This is a non-traditional music video with a story driven tone that I believe compliments the music perfectly. Consider it a mash up of these ingredients:

The budget for the pre-production and production was done for $2,500.00. We are greatly benefiting from great friends, supporting our vision by donating their time and talents.
Nearing the final stages of production, we are looking to get into post-production as soon as possible. We are beyond thankful all the continued help and support of everyone who believes in this video.
Our team consists of experienced filmmakers, music supervisor/sound engineer, lighting director, actors and a stellar cinematographer. Through a combination of your assistance and the facilities we have available to us, we're confident we can capture a unique experience for music fans. Our goal is to submit the finished film into festivals: the Can-Do film festival, SXSW music video festival, Sundance, etc. It will also officially release on the internet with Initials B.R's newest CD.
